Surroundings

One of the most remarkable things about Otrobanda is the historic buildings which have been protected by UNESCO for some time. It is a close-knit district, with a lot of activity during the day. In Otrobanda you go to the Breedestraat for all your daily shopping, and in the evening it is bustling and cozy. The eastern part of the district is located on the St. Anna Bay, which borders on the other side by means of the Pontjesbrug, called Punda. The Brionplein at the end of the Breedestraat is often used for local celebrations and from here you have a good view of all the large ships arriving and departing from the Curaçao harbor. The new CMC hospital is also located in this neighborhood and is popular among (medical) students. You can see the cruise ships at the Mega pier which is adjacent to the Renaissance hotel and shopping mall. Shops and restaurants are nearby, and public transport is also easily accessible. In short, this is an ideal neighborhood for living and working in the city.
